- Practice Gratitude
- Check in with your body
- Take note of your 5 senses
When we talk about mindfulness one of the primary things that we have to take into
consideration is gratitude. We have to take note of the positive things in our lives in the
present moment. This can be small things such as the weather or your friends and family. It
is important to practice gratitude in order to be present and create a positive future.
There are so many things that our body does without our conscious thought, one of these
activities is breathing. Our bodies regulate the amount of oxygen that our body needs
depending on the environment we place our bodies in- How incredible!
So why don’t we listen to our bodies more? Your bodies aches and pains are a good
indicator of where you are holding stress, tension, and other emotions. It is important to
take note of the areas that you are holding stress and tension. Ask yourself these questions:
Do I feel heavy or light? Am I holding tension? What parts of my body are most relaxed?
What parts of my body need some attention?
When you are practising mindfulness, it is important to use your five senses. Use them to be
present and live in the moment. When you are about to enjoy a lovely meal, your visual
opinion matters a lot in conjunction with smell then lastly taste! How funny… We enjoy
food with our eyes and nose first before our mouth.
When we take a step back and experience life through all five sensors, we experience life
through every aspect of our bodies.
I challenge you today to live today using one of the tools above and let me know what your
experience is in the comments section!
