Claiming Your Power - Life Coaching Ke

Claiming Your Power

Something I have learnt over the years is inner strength and power is one of the most important parts of myself. Knowing that I have the power to take away something positive from a negative situation both inspires and motivates me. Now, this is easier said than done, it takes daily focus and strength to arrive at a stage where you feel you are able to claim your power and strength.

There are four practices that I heavily integrated into my routine that changed my life, it influenced my motivation, drive, passion and most importantly enabled me to claim my power.

The four practices are:

Moving my body every morning before the sun rises

This enabled me to move my body before the busy day started before the hustle and bustle started in the city, it provided me with an hour of peace and allowed my mind, body, and soul to slowly awaken over the course of the hour.

Reflection before I lay my head to rest

Reflection does not have to be detailed or tedious, reflection can be done 15 minutes before you go to bed, simply reflecting upon the day things that went right- and why I am proud of myself, things that went wrong- and what I LEARNT. There is no right or wrong way to reflect so long as you let go of the day, embrace your journey, and learn from your mistakes.

Connecting with my spirituality

This does not mean you must be religious; this can be anything you want it to be. From saying a prayer before you go to bed to reciting affirmations throughout the day. Your spiritual practise should be tailored to you.

Taking time for myself on a weekly basis

Taking time away from people allows the mind to be creative, it allows your mind to wander, to dream. This is the time in which I am able to visualize the day, week, month, year simply because I have given myself the space to do so. You can take the whole day or even a few hours to yourself, whichever time frame suits you best.

These are the four practices that have served me and changed my life for the better, I strongly encourage you to implement one of these practices into your routine in order to claim your power.

Love & Light,

Vanessa Akiwumi
