Gratitude portals is an activity that I like to do every quarter, it acts as a time capsule where I am able to go through the year expressing gratitude and after each quarter, I can open up the capsule and reflect upon where I started and where I am currently am.
Though this may seem very simple and easy to do I like to take my time thinking about my gratitude list- this usually takes me 2-3 days to complete. I then seal it in an envelope and open the capsule 3 months later.
I am about to walk you through the process of creating a gratitude time capsule I would recommend that you go into this with an open mind, an open heart and start this process at a time where you feel peaceful and content.
You will need:
Two different coloured pens
A piece of paper
A new envelope
Close your eyes and notice 5 of your senses, what can you hear, smell, taste, visualize and feel?
Open your eyes and think about what made you feel at peace, what made you smile and think about why.
When you have actualized these aspects write down the things that you are grateful for in one colour.
Next to each of the words give a brief reason of your gratitude for these things.
Now in a different coloured pen write down an:
Item
Person
Mode of transport
That you are grateful for, we tend to forget that the simplest things are things that we take for granted but they play a significant role in our lives.
We are approaching the final steps of the gratitude capsule; I would like you to breath and read through the list again. When you feel ready you can fold the piece of paper to a size that will fit into the envelope, ensure that you are folding the paper towards you as opposed to away from you.
Seal the envelope and simply write “The things I am most grateful for and the date”
Keep this in a place that you will remember and open it in three months’ time.
